Paul Kane

Paul Kane is back with a brand new horror collection: Fresh Wounds. It will be released at Fantasycon 2027, in Birmingham, and it will be his third collection for Luna and his second for our Harvester series (and if you have not discovered the Harvester series, you really should!). In typical Harvester style, you can expect a suitably surprising bonus section!

The cover art is by the very talented Ben Baldwin - always a pleasure to have his artwork in the Luna family!

Once again, Paul brings us stories which takes us straight into the intricate and strange realities of the human condition. Stories that cut deep, that makes us think and put ourselves into the protagonists' shoes.

And it’s in such moments that Kane’s work shines.
When he reminds us how little time we have. How cruel the numbers. Then dares to pose two terrible questions:
What will you do? And what will it cost you?
Jamie Flanagan

Paul on the collection:

I’m delighted to be working with the amazing Luna Press yet again, for my third collection with them. This one draws together a lot of material from the last few years, but as with all of my stuff you can usually see a through-line. Most horror contains wounds of some sort, and this collection is no different; whether they be physical or mental, deserved or not. The past can wound as easily as the present, a supernatural being as easily as someone – or something – solid. The title is a huge nod to my dear late friend Christopher Fowler’s collection Flesh Wounds, one of my favourites of all time – please do hunt it down if you’ve not read it. And I was over the moon when the wonderful Jamie Flanagan agreed to pen the introduction for the book, and said such lovely things about the writing. Forever grateful! I hope everyone else gets a kick out of reading it, too.

Paul is a cornerstone of the horror short fiction world, bringing us intelligent horror stories that truly leave a mark. More news in due course!

‘Paul Kane is a first-rate storyteller, never failing to marry his insights into the world and its anguish with the pleasures of phrases eloquently turned.’

(Clive Barker – Bestselling author of The Hellbound Heart, Abarat, Mr B. Gone & The Scarlet Gospels)

‘Paul Kane’s lean, stripped-back prose is a tool that’s very much fit for purpose. He knows how to make you want to avoid the shadows and the cracks in the pavement.’

(Mike Carey – Award-winning, bestselling author of the Felix Castor series of novels and The Girl With All the Gifts, Once Was Willem and Outlaw Planet as M.R. Carey)

‘Kane finds the everyday horrors buried within us, rips them out and serves them up in these deliciously dark tales.’

(Kelley Armstrong – Bestselling author of Bitten, Haunted, Broken, Waking the Witch, Spell Bound and Thirteen)

‘An artistic visionary for our times. A deft and daring writer, Paul is equally accomplished at editing, filmmaking, illustrating, and painting, and in all these forms he asks a set of probing questions about life, destiny, meaning, and “something else”.’

(Nancy Holder – Bestselling and award-winning author of Crimson Peak, Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Book of Fours, Wonder Woman and On Fire).

‘Paul Kane is a name to watch. His work is disturbing and very creepy.’

(Tim Lebbon – New York Times bestselling author of The Cabin in the Woods, The Silence and Secret Lives of the Dead)
